Stories and poetry pique a child’s interest and imagination. Like most parents, Craig Vroom knew this and often read Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein pieces to his own kids. Soon, however, he started writing his own stories to keep them engaged and that eventually led to his career as a children’s book author. Linn Winstead Trochim, owner of Animart Studios in Colorado Springs and former artist with Hanna Barbera lends her artistry and illustration to help his stories come to life. Craig’s books follow the adventures of a young boy named Andrew and his friend, a dragon named Feelo. Written in verse, children will be sure to enjoy the rhymes and the sense of adventure in the stories Craig Vroom has cooked up.

About the Author
Craig Vroom used to read poetry to his children and began to write his own stories to keep up with their ‘appetites.’ Now he is a children’s book author who was featured as a guest speaker at the 5th Annual Author Fest of the Rockies where he shared the Five Storytelling Tenets he uses to write his stories. His books are adventure stories that make use of literary devices like rhyme, meter and alliteration and are illustrated by former Hanna Barbera artist Linn Trochim. They follow the adventures of two characters: an adventurous boy named Andrew and his dragon friend, Feelo. In his first book,The Secretous Sign: An Andrew and Feelo Baseball Adventure, Andrew and Feelo go to watch a baseball game, only to find themselves being asked to bat against home run king Rocko Burista after two ballplayers are injured on the field. It was also featured during Baseball Hall of Fame’s Youth Week in Cooperstown, N.Y. His latest book is The Riddle of Shipwreck Sound, a pirate adventure where Andrew and Feelo search for treasure and battle against the notorious Captain Plunder. He is also working on a third book about Andrew and Feelo, an eco-adventure about looking for the tall trees. I never get tired of Dr. Seuss but the idea of a children’s book rhyming is very important. I think I could recite The Cat In the Hat from memory.
And the idea of solving riddles. And great illustrations.
That is the secret of success.
