At an early age of twelve, Samantha Shu started composing and elaborating story lines with her sister about wizards, elves and frightening monsters. At the age of fifteen, she wrote a novel called the Tale of Angel, a solitary elf maiden. She wrote this novel so she could read it anytime she wanted and when she finished she named it “Mistaken Identity”.
Just like any other author, she went through a tedious process of looking for a publishing company that will publish her book but unfortunately, she received a lot of rejections for a span of 10 years. It was a discouragement for her so she decided to keep all her manuscripts in a box of shoe and just focus on some other things like martial arts, gymnastics, stunt works, theater and sword fighting. But these stuffs never gave her the happiness and fulfillment that writing can bring to her life.
The discouragement brought about by the rejections from the publishing companies didn’t stop her from fulfilling her passion from the creative world of writing. So she decided to self publish and her first novel “Mistaken Identity” was released through iUniverse in 2003.
