Branding vs. Marketing with Suzanne Tulien – Interview Notes

  • - Many small and mid-size business owners hurry to create their logos and business cards without doing internal work.
  • - Be conscious about creating that “extra stuff”, that something that creates a bond with your customers. This is your competitive advantage.
  • - In branding, do not focus on your competition. Focus on how you can show up authentically and be consistent about it. Then, you will be able to attract customers who you are and and .
  • - Think of your business brand as a Hollywood Movie. The script, everything you say, is your marketing. The actors are your brand. These actors need to make your movie believable. Think of it as how you show up everyday and do what you do.
  • - Your branding starts the moment you open your doors for business
  • - You have 7 seconds to make an impression to your customer and make them decide whether they want to buy from you.
  • - Your brand is a perception.

WOW Suzanne – that is a powerful short interview that goes right to the heart of the matter.

It’s almost like a resume advice. You have about seven seconds to get an employer’s attention.

Attention and sincerity – and a great first sentence and title is what will work – not a red poppy. (and I love red poppies)

Then deliver the goods once you have attention.

I like the Hollywood script idea. I have 9 people working for me in my management capacity. One of the principles we teach is the 10 second rule. Our greeting sets the impression along with what our guests see when they enter our facility. The vision/hearing is the “brand” they remember. It is huge if the rest of the experience backs up that impression. I agree Suzanne.

Love this interview with Suzanne Michelle. I do agree with her from past experience. You do have to know who you really are on what you company really once to represent before you do a logo.

Thank you many bunches for sorting through the branding of a person or business.
    Blessings,
    Debbie
