More about her book Heal Pain Naturally:

I am living proof that people with chronic illnesses can have a better life without relying on pills. In just a week I felt better than I had in months — if you use the steps I outline you will feel better SOON.

It has been almost 3 years since I adopted these new habits and lifestyle. Now I can keep up with my kids, do errands, clean my house, take online courses and have energy to spare. I am SO grateful for my new life and hope to help as many people as possible realize, they too can heal themselves.

I recently updated my ebook to include the PAGING ME SYSTEM which are the 8 techniques I used as well as inspired action worksheets to help you start off.

From Jenny’s site  Jenny Mannion :

I broke down into tears this week as I was in Savasana after my yoga dance class.  Deep waves of gratitude filled me as I remembered that 4 years ago the doctors agreed I WOULD be in a wheelchair and I was advised that I should not be taking yoga dance.  I had given up hope of dancing regularly ever again.  Instead, I have not only healed myself of all the dis-eases but 4 years later I am almost 3 years healed and I am healthier than I remember EVER being.  I joined a belly dance troupe recently (at 40 years of age) and enjoy yoga dance class every week.  I had all but given up on myself but it was in surrendering that the resources to heal came into my life.

Michelle thanks got sharing that video. Jenny is so right whether it is chronic pain you suffer from or mental pain, it is all in the attitude and learning to be positive. Sometimes when I have done a lot of moving around my knees will bother me. I know that if I set with my legs straight that this will help. But I also have to quite dwelling on them. Read a good book while I am sitting there takes my mind off of the problem and in 30 minutes I am good to go.
Great video and thanks again. Corrine did a great job again. Thanks Corrine!

Discipline rings through Jenny’s speaking. She speaks powerfully, like someone who has conquered a great challenge.

    Dear Michelle -

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview Jenny Mannion on your incrdible and cutting edge site.

I have known her by email and through her blog for several years but this was the first time I had met her “in person.”

The most important thing she stressed in this interview was the part about pardoning. Not so much others, but OURSELVES.

    I AM PRACTICING.

First off – Corinne, you’re just so comfortable in front of a camera – I admire that.

Second, fantastic interview! I’ve never experienced chronic pain (thank goodness), but I was able to relate a little with my pregnancy. My pelvis hasn’t been happy with the changes in my body and I’ve been forced to be still throughout the last several months. I dream of the day I can jump and run again!

I’ve gained weight from my new static lifestyle and can barely turn over in bed without moaning in pain. I definitely experience moments of self-pity. Then I remember what it’s all for – a beautiful little boy I’ll be welcoming into the world in a few months.

Jenny is absolutely right – gratitude is a powerful emotion and has the ability to make us feel stronger and/or happier. Of course, my paid should only be temporary, so I certainly don’t mean to compare myself to Jenny, but her thoughts have helped me.

    Hi Michelle,
Thank you so much for this wonderful site. It was SUCH a pleasure to be interviewed by Corinne. I love the idea of bringing the authors to life by a video interview and I have to say I was amazed with HOW easy the process was… gotta LOVE technology! Another ingenious idea by the beautiful Michelle Vandepas! :-) Love ya, xoxo Jenny

    Hi Corinne,
It was SUCH a joy to speak with you. I could talk about healing all day with you and I love your questions and authenticity. Knowing you is a pleasure and thank you so much for taking the time to interview me. Love and hugs, Jenny

    Hi Debbie,
Ahh yes I know the dwelling well… pain can sometimes be a challenging one to shift your attention away from….BUT it is WELL worth it when you can. Reading was also something that I used to transport me from pain…nothing like a good book! Calling a positive friend was another way to forget the pain… I have people write down some of the things they can do so that when they are in pain they have that list to go to. It’s a step and soon it becomes automatic. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Love, Jenny

    Hi Cheryl,
Oh…those “energy vampires”… I knew them well. Now I surround myself with positive people and IF I DO have to be around an energy vampire… I make sure it is in VERY SHORT QUANTITIES of time. :-) It makes a WORLD of a difference. Also being around positive people is infectious and keeps you smiling. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Love, Jenny

    Hi Joel,
As I said above to Cheryl – yes, toxic people really can drain the life out of you – happy and positive people make life joyful. Also – with the goals I still set them like that… a big one but with tonnnsss of steps to get there… I also am kind to myself if one of the steps leads another way.. there is also a need to “go with the flow” a bit and not be TOO tied to one specific path to get to your goal. The more you listen to your intuition and follow the steps – the more you are IN the flow and life sure is nice when that happens! ;-) Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Love, Jenny

    Hi Keller,
Congratulations on your baby boy! I wish you the best for the rest of your pregnancy. :-) I was NOT a good pregnant woman by any means… achy… tired… nauseous…and on bed rest for my second (my daughter, 7) BUT I have 2 BEAUTIFUL children and it is all worth it in the long run! Gratitude was really the easiest tool to implement that made SUCH a difference in my life. 5 minutes when I got up, 5 minutes at night when your brain is in it’s most calm and receptive state… it can REALLY set the mood for the day. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Good luck!!! Love, Jenny

    Hi David,
Yep, there is some fear in facing old habits, your self thoughts, forgiveness, goal setting… BUT is is all so worth it to “do it anyway”. ;-) I like Susan Jeffers and am happy you had a nice time at the workshop. Thanks so much for reading and commenting. Love, Jenny

Ingredients for healing pain – pardoning, attention shifting, gratitude, influences, no negative self talk, goal setting – are the same as for happiness. Which makes sense given the two are intertwined. A Course In Miracles quote comes to mind: “All human behavior is either a loving response or a cry for help.” Jenny’s experience seems to say it applies to behavior both in the physical and spiritual realms. Hi Corinne,

I second with Cheryl – healing yourself is all about the discipline of mind and body wherein you really have to think you’re going to be healthy no matter what, and that pushes you to be a healthier person and be shifting to a healthier lifestyle.

Healthy people became healthy because they want it otherwise, they really want to ruin their lives while suffering from diseases. The only thing that could heal one is oneself thinking and isn’t the medicine itself.

Great interview Corinne and thanks for sharing your story Jenny!

This is a really useful post. So much of healing depends on having a realy strong, positive attitude and refusing to be pessimistic about the opportunity to get well again. I have a freind who refused to let her illness beat her, and she had one of the fastest recovery times ever known, because of her strength and attitude. It goes to show that there are still many things we don’t know about our health – it’s a continual learning curve!

    With best wishes,

I HATE the news as well and very rarely watch it…it’s so negative.

There should be a positive news program where they only share the good things that are happening in the world.

Also agree – toxic people get on my nerves as well BUT sometimes they can be an inspiration to me. I take their negative comments and thoughts and say, “I’ll show them”. It makes me more determined!

    Hi Bruce,
Ahh you words ring so true to me and remind me of a poem I wrote, “Weeding my thoughts to plant new seeds” http://jennymannion.com/healpain/2008/07/weeding-my-thoughts-to-plant-new-seeds/ :-) Self talk is a powerful tool for healing once you can stop and really hear yourself. Planting new seeds is key for growing a healthier you. Thanks for watching and for your comment. Love, Jenny

    Hi Tom,
It is unfortunate that so many of us have to come up against something traumatic to have such a spiritual growth spurt but it does also make sense. When I became sick it was my body’s way of telling me the WAY I was living and reacting to the world around me was not working. My body told me I HAD to take that time for myself by creating so much pain and dis-ease there was NOT a choice. Something that shakes up your life will make you ask questions. I do love when I meet the people who have come to the path of their own accord – no trauma necessary but however we get there – the important thing is that we DO get there… life is never the same after. :-) Thanks for watching and the comment. :-) Love, Jenny

    Hi @Beat Schindler,
Happiness and healing are DEFINITELY intertwined. :-) When one is sick there is dis-ease which means there usually is not much happiness. I love “A Course in Miracles” and that is a wonderful quote. I also like he quote “everything we say or do is an affirmation”. :-) Powerful words and they make me stop a lot and do a check in to see where my mind is and to make sure I am affirming what I want and NOT what I don’t want. Thanks so much for listening and commenting. :-) Love, Jenny

    Hi Tyrone,
Yes, there is a discipline to healing with the mind. It sure would have been easy when I came across some of the “yuckier” stuff that needed addressing for me to fall back on old mental habits and convince myself the doctors were right after all… BUT the beautiful thing is WHEN you begin to do this work I was filled with SUCH JOY and a KNOWING that things WOULD be better… THAT is what kept me going. It stinks that MOST medicine IS NOT for healing but for masking symptoms. There are exceptions of course depending on the illness. But for me I was on pain killers and fought ever being on anti-depressants – neither of which would have healed me. THAT had to come from within. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching. :-) Love, Jenny

    Hi Jen,
Good for your friend! It IS so helpful when we see people around us put this into practice! It took me 3 weeks to un-do over 6 years of chronic pain and disease! I hope in the future doctors are trained to also tell us of our own powers to heal or even about the possibility of healing. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-) Love, Jenny

    Hi Mitch,
You definitely hit the nail on the head! Yes, dis-ease DOES become who you are when you are sick. I WAS Fibromyalgia, Ehlers Danlos Syndrom, Chronic Mono and more. Those labels brought me comfort somehow when diagnosed but did not help me to heal. Telling myself I HAD these illnesses every day certainly did not help. God and our soul DO help those who know healing is possible. Even saying “WHAT IF I could feel better?” opens up a whole new internal dialogue that people who are ill can benefit form. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. Love, Jenny

    Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much for all your kind words. Yes, my attitude did play a huge role in my healing and I feel especially HOW fast it happened. I KNEW I could feel better than I had been if I changed my thoughts.. I did not KNOW I would be 100% healed so was not attached to the end result – I just knew I could do more and would do more and 3 weeks later I did not need any more pain pills and felt better than I had in years. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Greatly appreciated. Love, Jenny

Sherri--Being the Change I Wish to See

Great advice for dealing with chronic pain. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 16 years ago after constantly being in some kind of pain since my teen years. It wasn’t debilitating pain, but it is constantly there at some level. Fibromyalgia is one of those syndromes that doesn’t have great treatment options. Some doctors and the general public often don’t believe it actually exists, so there is a social stigma to it.

The things that helped me the most were buying a Sleep Number bed that I can adjust based on how sore I am, and I started sleeping a lot better and waking with a lot less pain.

I also suffer from long-term depression, and we worked through medications to get me on the best ones for both depression and pain relief side effects. Many anti-depressants have pain relieving abilities. It’s also been found that chronic pain can originate from depression itself. At least some of my pain was related to depression.

Getting the new bed and aggressively treating my depression have made a quantum difference in the amount of pain I feel. Most of the day, I don’t really feel it much. When I’m tired I feel it a lot. Then I know it’s time to go to bed and start over again the next day.

I also focus on what I can do rather than what I can’t do. Gratitude really does help. It also helps to quit telling yourself what you should be able to do and focus on what you are doing now. Then do the next thing. Stop when you know you need to and don’t feel bad about it.

Once you know your limits, you can test them when you have the energy, and respect them when you don’t. I don’t expect every day to be a day where I can push my limits, but over time, when you push a little at a time, you find your limits have expanded a little bit. Over the years, I find I can do a lot more of what I used to be able to do and continue to gain function rather than lose it. But it has been a very long process.

Hi Sherry – I’ve used homeopathy and emotional therapy myself with fabulous results – its a long haul though it took 6 years for me to detox from my fibromyalgia – and that was working with it pretty strictly. Have you tried a gluten free or at least wheat free diet? There are so many alternative treatments I would hope one of them would work for you. Blessings and YES stay in gratitude.
