Moonlight Memoirs – Remembering that Family and Friends are Forever won a first place gold medal in the Spirituality category of the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Winning first place is a great honor for Maggie Mei, Melody and Good Times Press as the awards are open to independent book publishers world-wide, making it a very competitive book award.

Two truly interesting things about Maggie Mei Lewis are: she is adopted from China (before her first birthday in 1993) and she wrote Moonlight Memoirs at only thirteen years old!

The Teen Author and The Story

Moonlight Memoirs is an exquisitely illustrated story about two curious mice who venture into a moonlit winter’s night. Their outing becomes a life-changing event when they meet an old mouse who beckons them to follow. This mouse – along with several other animal friends – teaches the two mice a comforting lesson about love’s eternal nature.

The Illustrator

Melody Lea Lamb is an artist and stay at home working mom specializing in miniature paintings and ACEOs of animals, fantasy beings, and other woodland creatures which she sell online.

In June of 2007, a young lady Maggie Mei, found her miniature paintings on eBay and asked her if she would illustrate her children’s story. And the delightful process of creating and publishing Moonlight Memoirs began. Over the course of their project, the artist, the author and her mother Greta, worked together closely producing this wonderful book!

The Book

Moonlight Memoirs’ official publication date is August 26, 2009 published by Good Times Press; First Edition in English language. It has hard copy of 24 pages with dimension of 8.1 x 8.1 x 0.3 inches. It is distributed to libraries by Quality Books, Inc. and Partners Book Distributing which distributes to bookstores.

On December 7, 2009, 224 copies of Moonlight Memoirs were donated to Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). The book was on display at the Bologna, Italy Children’s Book Fair in mid-March. As a result, they are working with a foreign rights agency in hopes of translating Moonlight Memoirs into another language!

Maggie Mei Lewis  lives with her family on an island near the Chesapeake Bay. She is a graduate of Montessori International Children’s House in Annapolis, Maryland and is currently studying with The Learning Community International, a private school for independent learners in Annapolis.

She spends her free time reading, drawing, visiting with friends, and playing the piano and violin.
